An Export Credit Agency (ECA) is a national government-owned or affiliated entity that supports the export of domestic goods and services by providing financing to foreign purchasers of such goods and services. A Political Risk Insurer (PRI) provides a guarantee or insurance to help parties manage political risks present in international investment and trade transaction. Both ECAs and PRIs are often key participants in international project financings. This Legal Update discusses the involvement of ECAs and PRIs in these transactions.
