IFLR also highlighted the firm’s role advising Goldman Sachs on the warehouse financing of the small business loan portfolio originated in Mexico by Mercado Crédito through the MercadoLibre platform. According to IFLR, this deal sets the template for Latin American fintech.

In addition, the two winning “Deals of the Year” transactions are:

Banco Guayaquil Securitization: Structured Finance and Securitization

Mayer Brown represented the investors in connection with a $175 million private placement of fixed rate notes secured by dollar-denominated Visa, MasterCard and American Express merchant voucher receivables sold by Banco Guayaquil S.A. According to IFLR, this deal forged a new path for Ecuadorean financial institutions to raise foreign financing.

Engie and CDPQ/TAG: M&A

T&C represented Le Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), GDF International and Engie Brasil Energia S.A. in the acquisition of a 90 percent shareholding stake in Transportadora Associada de Gás S.A. from Petrobras, with a final and binding offer of $8.6 billion.
