New Illinois Legislation Impacts Employers’ Use of Non-Compete and Non-Solicit Covenants

分享

The Illinois General Assembly recently passed a bill that significantly impacts the enforcement of non-compete and non-solicit covenants for employees in Illinois. Governor JB Pritzker is expected to sign the bill into law shortly. Accordingly, as we explained in a Legal Update earlier this week, employers should review their existing restrictive covenant agreements, determine whether to enter into new agreements (or amend existing ones) before the law takes effect and take steps to ensure that their future agreements satisfy new enforceability requirements.

Please join Mayer Brown partner Andrew Rosenman and counsel Kim Leffert from our US Employment Litigation & Counseling practice on July 20, 2021, as they discuss the changes in the law in more detail as well as practical steps that employers should take to ensure compliance with the bill’s new requirements. The webinar will cover:

  • Timing and requirements the bill introduces for these covenants
  • The impact of the bill on the “forfeiture for competition” doctrine
  • New remedies and enforcement mechanisms
  • Best practices for employers
