Henry Thorpe, senior associate, advises clients on transactional oil and gas matters, with a focus on projects and commercial contracts concerning liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Having trained at a City law firm, Henry spent over four years in-house advising leading asset owners and energy majors on their daily LNG activities. His professional experience encompasses LNG terminal management and expansion, regasification access, the purchase and supply of commodities by portfolio companies and trading houses, and regulatory developments impacting cross-border trade.
Henry brings a grounded, industry-focused perspective to clients in the structuring, negotiation and execution of international energy transactions, especially those pertaining to the Atlantic Basin and Western Europe.
Experiência
Representative experience (including experience gained prior to joining Mayer Brown):
Energy Projects and Commercial Contracts
- An IOC on its entry into the German regasification market via two separate capacity providers, including review of a full suite of short-term and medium-term FSRU terminal use agreements (TUAs).
- The LNG trading desk of an energy major on all legal matters arising from daily LNG trading, encompassing confirmation drafting and negotiation, operational issues and early stage disputes.
- An energy major on its negotiation of multiple new master sale and purchase agreements (MSPAs) with various Atlantic suppliers and purchasers on both FOB and DES basis, including the preparation of template confirmations and credit support documents.
