Tauil & Chequer Advogados advises GreenYellow on Grid Zero solar projects for Carrefour

Share

Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown advised GreenYellow on its partnership with Carrefour Brazil Group, a Brazilian retail trade company, to implement "Grid Zero" solar projects under an Energy as a Service model in 54 of the company’s stores, where the investment is fully made by GreenYellow. The “Grid Zero” model is a behind the meter power generation structure, different from distributed generation, where there is no injection of excess power into the utility’s grid as all the electricity generated by the solar systems is consumed by the customer.

The project will include units of Carrefour, Atacadão, and Sam’s Club, which are part of the retail group. GreenYellow will invest approximately $20 million in this project, with an installed capacity of approximately 38 MWp and estimated annual production of 56 GWh. For Carrefour, the project represents significant savings on electricity costs, aligned with its decarbonization strategy, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 2,000 tons per year.

The team was led by partners Débora Yanasse and Alexandre Arlota, with support from associates Luisa Tortolano, Julia Braga, and Nayara Viana, in the firm’s Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo offices.
