London – Mayer Brown announced today that Steven Wilson will be joining the firm as a partner in its Global Energy group in London with a focus on cross-border energy M&A and liquified natural gas (LNG) transactions across the UK, EMEA, Asia, the US and Latin America.

Steven brings extensive experience advising IOCs and NOCs, commodity traders and portfolio companies on complex, high-value transactions spanning the energy value chain, including upstream oil and gas, oilfield services companies, LNG, refineries and petrochemical facilities, pipelines and storage and conventional power, as well as energy transition and energy-related infrastructure.

Alex Chequer, head of Mayer Brown’s Global Energy practice, said: “Steven’s deep energy and cross-border transactional experience will make him a great asset to our global energy clients. In particular, his track record in LNG and energy M&A will allow us to offer market-leading, full-service energy advice in both established geographies and emerging markets. He is part of our strategy to grow our already very good energy capabilities in London.”

Nick Kouvaritakis, co-head of Mayer Brown’s Global Energy practice, added: “He is highly regarded in the energy sector, with a wealth of experience in energy M&A and broad experience across the sector in upstream oil and gas and LNG (including recent experience on LNG and regasification projects). Steven's arrival will significantly enhance our core competencies as we advise clients on the most complex and high-value energy M&A and LNG transactions worldwide and continue to leverage our footprint in major energy hubs.”

Dominic Griffiths, London managing partner, commented: “Steven's experience will create strong collaboration opportunities across our offices in the US, Asia, Middle East and Brazil, enhancing the firm's global integrated offering. We are focused on our global energy strategy and his arrival allows us to continue this growth trajectory."
