Mayer Brown partner Avi Kupfer has been honored as a 2025 Law360 “Rising Star” in the Environmental category. The annual list recognizes top practitioners under the age of 40 “whose legal accomplishments within their respective disciplines transcend their age.” The honorees were selected by Law360 from a competitive pool of over 1,100 submissions.

Avi earned his spot on the list due to his extensive experience in environmental and appellate litigation and regulatory compliance. His contributions have been instrumental in shaping some of the most critical cases in the industry. In the past year, Avi successfully represented the United States Postal Service’s multibillion-dollar delivery-vehicle modernization program in multiple lawsuits, defended the US Sugar Corporation in high-stakes environmental regulatory litigation, and advised General Motors in its $650 million investment to develop Thacker Pass, the largest known source of lithium in the United States.

At Mayer Brown, Avi concentrates on litigation involving the federal government in Administrative Procedure Act and other regulatory cases, including successful suits on behalf of major companies and industry associations. He has substantial experience in environmental, energy, land-use, and transportation litigation – especially under Superfund, the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.

Law360 will publish a profile of Avi in the coming weeks.
