WTR 1000 ranks Mayer Brown and recognizes seven IP lawyers

The 2021 edition of World Trademark Review (WTR) 1000 recognized seven lawyers in Mayer Brown’s global Intellectual Property practice and ranked the firm in Brazil, Germany and the United States (Illinois), as well as in the “International” category. The guide also ranked Mayer Brown in “China and SARs: Hong Kong” in the Enforcement & Litigation and Prosecution & Strategy categories.

The seven lawyers from Mayer Brown and Tauil & Chequer (T&C) in association with Mayer Brown who were recognized in four jurisdictions include:

  • Michael Adams, Richard Assmus and Kristine Young (United States: Illinois);
  • Gabriela Kennedy (China and SARs: Hong Kong);
  • Cristiane Manzueto (Brazil); and
  • Konstantin von Werder and Ulrich Worm (both Germany).

WTR 1000 awarded Mr. Adams, a co-leader of the firm’s Global Brand Management & Internet practice, a top-tier ranking in Prosecution & Strategy. According to the publication, he’s a “fabulous, highly disciplined and organized lawyer.” Additionally, the publication recognized Mr. Assmus for his cultivated litigation and transactional skills and highlighted Ms. Young for her very detailed and strategic thinking, and excellence in interfacing with foreign correspondents.

Ms. Kennedy, who leads the firm’s Asia IP and TMT group and co-leads the global IP practice, was ranked in the Enforcement & Litigation and Transactions categories. The publication highlighted her extensive experience in telecommunications, media and technology, and her broad client base.

The publication also recognized Ms. Manzueto for her “clear and informative communications and practical, cost-effective strategies.” The publication also described her as a “dynamic trademark all-rounder.”

Finally, WTR 1000 spotlighted Mr. Werder for handling opposition proceedings before the German trademark office and EUIPO, deftly drafts licensing agreements and his in-depth advertising and marketing knowledge. In addition, Mr. Worm was recognized for his work in cross-border IP litigation and advising on IT and technology-related matters, including cloud services, data and software licensing agreements, and e-commerce.
