Jarman Russell is an accomplished business litigator with a proven record of delivering exceptional results in high-stakes disputes nationwide.

He has tried cases in both federal and state courts, consistently positioning clients to succeed at every stage of litigation, from pre-litigation strategy through discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeal.

As a seasoned advisor on complex e-discovery matters, Jarman also develops defensible, cost-effective approaches to managing large data sets, helping clients navigate high-exposure matters efficiently and strategically.

Jarman has earned a distinguished record of success in New York State Supreme Court, particularly in the Commercial Division of that court, where institutions often must litigate due to jurisdictional issues. His deep familiarity with state court procedures and practices enables him to drive consistently strong outcomes for his clients.

Jarman represents clients across a broad range of industries, defending against complex contract and tort claims in federal and state courts, arbitrations, class actions, and investigations. These include:

Global financial institutions, including banks, administrative agents, and securitization trustees and underwriters;
Private equity firms and other private credit lenders in connection with stand-alone and syndicated transactions;
Major international communications and consumer products companies; and
Highly regulated institutions, including global insurance and pharmaceutical companies.

Jarman is also deeply committed to pro bono work, representing clients through partnerships with Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts in New York City, New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, and Lenox Hill Neighborhood House. In 2019, he received The Legal Aid Society’s Pro Bono Publico Award in recognition of his exceptional service in landlord-tenant matters.

Having begun his career as a summer associate in the firm’s New York office, Jarman now gives back by mentoring numerous associates and serving on the New York Office Summer Committee, helping to develop the next generation of the firm’s legal talent.

Argued motions and appeals in New York special proceedings resulting in affirmed rulings that securitization trustees had acted reasonably in accepting proposed settlements to resolve mortgage loan repurchase litigation.
Secured a favorable settlement for a major commercial real estate lender in a consolidated lender liability action following a five-week federal district court bench trial.
On behalf of a global communications company, won summary judgment and defeated class certification in a consumer class action asserting civil RICO and California unfair competition claims arising from advertising activity around cell phone products.
Obtained a complete victory, following a multi-week AAA arbitration, for a major pharmaceutical company in a commercial dispute involving a Phase III clinical trial and product licensing agreement.
Secured a complete victory for a securitization trustee when, following a bench trial, the New York State Supreme Court approved a $4.5 billion settlement entered into by the trustee and JPMorgan.

Obtained a favorable settlement for a global pharmaceutical company after a multi-week trial in Puerto Rico state court concerning a dispute over drilling an artesian water well to supply a manufacturing facility.
Represented a satellite entertainment provider in connection with an indemnification dispute arising from a corporate spin-off transaction.
Successfully represented multiple securitization trustees in New York State Supreme Court proceedings to obtain judicial instructions and litigation bar orders concerning trustee conduct in connection with litigation settlements and trust administration matters.
Successfully resolved multiple litigations involving claims against securitization trustees arising out of investor losses in mortgage-backed securities.
Defeated a motion for a temporary restraining order on behalf of a private credit lender and successfully resolved the related breach of contract claims.
Represented a leading financial institution against allegations of securities law violations arising out of its issuance and underwriting of billions of dollars of mortgage-backed securities.
Represented an international life insurance company in connection with claims alleging anticompetitive conduct in connection with the purchase and sale of life insurance policies on the secondary market.
Represented manufacturers in connection with arbitration and litigation arising from sales commission disputes.
