Fiona Gulliford

Fiona Gulliford has 20+ years of experience advising borrowers, commercial banks, ECAs and development finance institutions on numerous complex and first in market project finance transactions. Her project finance experience includes power and water projects, renewable energy (biomass, wind, hydro, geothermal, solar and BESS), thermal power, nuclear power, transmission and distribution, port and transport projects, petrochemicals and LNG, across MENA, Sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia, drafting and negotiating both conventional and Islamic financing facilities and commercial project.

Recent highlights include:

• Represented DFIs and commercial banks in the US$400 million + portfolio financing of renewable C&I projects across jurisdictions in sub-Saharan and North Africa for a C&I developer group and its further US$200 million sub funding of a captive project to the largest copper mine in Africa.*
• Advised a European DFI in respect of a Solar IPP in Uzbekistan, developed under the Scaling Solar 3 programme.*
• Advised lenders in respect of a number of stand-alone BESS storage projects being developed under the investment law in Uzbekistan.*
• Advised the sponsors to close the first ever Scaling Solar project globally to reach financial close, in Zambia.*
