Mayer Brown is representing Heartflow, Inc. in a patent infringement and trade secrets action against Elucid Bioimaging Inc. in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

The lawsuit concerns AI-enabled cardiovascular imaging technologies used in cardiac health diagnostics. According to the complaint, Heartflow alleges that Elucid infringed patents and misappropriated proprietary technologies underlying Heartflow’s machine learning-driven diagnostic platform.

The matter reflects the increasing importance of patent and trade secret protections for healthcare innovations powered by artificial intelligence as machine learning tools become more prevalent in clinical settings. It also reflects Mayer Brown’s expanding experience in intellectual property disputes involving emerging AI-related technologies, including matters in the Eastern District of Texas for firm clients NEC and Heartflow.

The Mayer Brown IP Litigation team representing Heartflow is led by partner Saqib Siddiqui and includes partners William Barrow and Brian Nolan, counsel Alison Gelsleichter, and associates Tariq Javed, Angeline Premraj, Courtney Krawice and Shantelle LaFayette in the firm’s Washington DC and New York offices.

The case is Heartflow, Inc. v. Elucid Bioimaging Inc.
