Tauil & Chequer Advogados (T&C), in association with Mayer Brown, advised Eneva on drafting and negotiating a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) purchase and sale agreement with Vale. Eneva will install a natural gas liquefaction unit with a capacity of 300,000 m3/per day at its complex located in Santo Antônio dos Lopes in the state of Maranhão to liquefy gas produced in its concessions in the Parnaíba Basin. The liquefied gas will be transported by cryogenic trucks to Vale's pellet plant in São Luís (MA), where it will be regasified and used as an industrial input, replacing fuel oil, thus contributing to the achievement of Vale's reduction target of 33 percent of its carbon emissions by 2030. This deal was led by partner Débora Yanasse and associate Lívia Seabra, both from the firm's Energy practice.
