Paris — Mayer Brown announced today the launch of "Competition Inspections in 21 Jurisdictions – A Practitioner's Guide."

This practical Guide draws on the collective experiences of Mayer Brown's global Competition & Antitrust team and a number of associate law firms to analyze antitrust investigations across 21 jurisdictions in Asia, the Americas and Europe.

At a time when competition authorities are actively resuming on-site inspections suspended during the COVID-19 outbreak, this Guide is an essential toolkit for businesses preparing for or dealing with governmental scrutiny across the globe. It provides a one-stop-shop for companies developing dawn raid response tools and strategies.

"On-site competition investigations raise an ever-increasing number of issues: computer network security, legal privilege and protection of private data, to name a few," said Nathalie Jalabert-Doury, the Guide's editor-in-chief and Mayer Brown's co-head of the European Competition & Antitrust practice. "Businesses need to be prepared to deal with  these issues  in advance of a raid as part of  well thought through response strategy, adapted to local requirements."

The  21 jurisdictions covered in the Guide are: Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, the European Union, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States.

For each jurisdiction, the Guide details the legal framework in which competition investigations can be organized, the nature of inspection powers, the key stages of an inspection, the rights and obligations of inspected companies, and judicial reviews.

Published in collaboration with Concurrences, a global antitrust publisher, the Guide builds on the European success of two reference guides authored by Nathalie Jalabert-Doury. The first is dedicated to competition inspections by French authorities, while the second volume covers European Commission inspections.

The associate law firm contributors include Anderson Mōri & Tomotsune, Antitrust Advisory, Cerha Hempel, ELIG Gürkaynak, Global Law Office, Houthoff, Integrites, Lenz & Staehelin, McMillan, Nedelka Kubáč, Rajah & Tann, Ramón y Cajal, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, Shin & Kim and Tauil & Chequer in association with Mayer Brown.
