Mayer Brown partner William Barrow named a 2021 “DC Rising Star” by The National Law Journal

Mayer Brown announced that Washington DC Intellectual Property partner William Barrow has been named a “DC Rising Star” by The National Law Journal as part of its Legal Awards for 2021. The award recognizes the Beltway’s 40 most promising lawyers aged 40 or under, who have wielded influence in their practice areas, demonstrated strong leadership qualities, and made significant community impact.

Mr. Barrow focuses his practice on protecting and defending clients’ intellectual property rights in district courts across the country, and before the US International Trade Commission and US Patent and Trademark Office. His litigation experience spans more than a dozen years and myriad industries, with a particular emphasis on consumer electronics, telecommunications, software and automotive.

Active in the firm, Mr. Barrow serves as co-chair of Mayer Brown Black Lawyers (DC), an affinity group that he established to promote the recruiting and retention of African-American attorneys in Mayer Brown’s Washington DC office. Mr. Barrow also serves on the firm’s Recruiting Committee and Talent Development Team.

Outside the firm, Mr. Barrow has held a variety of leadership positions in legal industry organizations, including with the American Intellectual Property Law Association (Chair of its Patent Litigation Committee), National Bar Association (former Chair of its IP Section), and Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (former DC City Lead for alumni programming and its 1L Mentoring Program).
