Mayer Brown partner Greg Deis inducted as fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers
Mayer Brown announced that Chicago partner Greg Deis, a global co-leader of the firm’s White Collar Defense & Compliance practice, was named a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (the College), one of the premier legal associations in North America.
Mr. Deis represents clients in high-stakes government investigations and complex civil litigation. He is a seasoned trial lawyer, having served as lead trial counsel in numerous civil and criminal trials and arbitrations.
Prior to joining Mayer Brown, he served as an assistant US attorney in Chicago, assigned to the Public Corruption section. He prosecuted numerous public officials, including members of the Illinois General Assembly and Chicago Police Department officers, with bribery, extortion, fraud and tax offenses. Mr. Deis also prosecuted high-ranking members of the Sinaloa and Los Zetas cartels.
At the firm, he regularly represents clients in investigations conducted by the United States Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission and other government agencies. He also represents clients in complex commercial litigation, including serving as lead trial counsel in several recent civil trials and arbitrations. Fellowship in the College is “extended by invitation only and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers of diverse backgrounds, who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years trial experience before they can be considered for Fellowship. Membership in the College cannot exceed one percent of the total lawyer population of any state or province.”
