Mayer Brown was named “Financial Facilitator of the Year” at the Trading Risk Awards 2021. The awards held in London “celebrate the elite individual and team excellence within the convergence market.” This marks the second time the firm has won this recognition. In addition, Mayer Brown acted as deal counsel on the Power Protective Re Ltd. Series 2020-1 transaction, which was named “Non-Life Transaction of the Year.”

Over the years, Mayer Brown has played a pivotal role in the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market. Amidst the pandemic, the firm advised on 37 of the approximately 60 ILS 144A offerings in 2020 with a combined value of $8.75 billion. These offerings involved 27 different sponsors (including Los Angeles Department of Water & Power, Sempra Energy, Convex Re, Nationwide, FEMA and the California Earthquake Authority) and involved a variety of perils, including wildfires. Notably, Mayer Brown advised Alphabet, the largest of global technology companies, in accessing the ILS markets for the first time.
