Mayer Brown partner Raj De named to Washingtonian’s 2021 list of “Washington’s Most Influential People”

Mayer Brown announced that Raj De, the managing partner of the firm’s office in Washington DC, has been named to Washingtonian’s 2021 list of “Washington’s Most Influential People” in the National Security and Defense category. The list recognizes experts and advocates in the private sector who influence policymaking in the public sector.

With more than two decades of experience in private practice and public service, Mr. De has an illustrious legacy of Washington legal and policy experience. Before rejoining Mayer Brown in 2015, Mr. De held senior appointments in the White House and the Departments of Justice and Defense. Most recently, he served as the general counsel of the US National Security Agency. Previously, he served in the White House as staff secretary and deputy assistant to former President Barack Obama. He also has significant Congressional experience, having served as counsel to the 9/11 Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the US and counsel to a special bipartisan staff of the US Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

At Mayer Brown, he leads a diverse and highly skilled group of more than 200 lawyers in the Washington DC office. He also serves as the leader of the firm’s global Cybersecurity & Data Privacy practice and the firm’s National Security practice. Additionally, Mr. De is a member of Mayer Brown’s Congressional Investigations & Crisis Management team. He focuses his practice on cutting-edge legal and policy issues at the nexus of technology, national security, law enforcement and privacy. As an experienced Washington counsel, he often assists clients on a broad range of sensitive, significant and high profile matters.
