Mayer Brown advised super premium mezcal brand Ojo de Tigre, a traditional Mexican spirit and a subsidiary of Casa Lumbre, S.A.P.I. de C.V., and its existing shareholders through a Mexican control trust incorporated for such purposes on its sale to Pernod Ricard México, S.A. de C.V., the world's second-largest wine and spirits producer.
Ojo de Tigre is a small-batch, artisanal mezcal crafted according to ancient traditions. Only sustainable agave from the Tobala and Espadín plants are used, creating a smooth, sweet and herbal taste profile that can be savored neat or in cocktails. Ojo de Tigre strengthens Pernod Ricard’s presence in mezcal, following the group’s entry into the category in 2017 with a majority stake in Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal.
Casa Lumbre is a company dedicated to craft "farm-to-bottle" Mexican premium spirit propositions with sensorial uniqueness. The group has a strong focus on place of origin, sustainability, and original method of productions. Casa Lumbre has created brands such as Ancho Reyes Liqueur and Montelobos Mezcal.
The Corporate M&A team in Mexico City included Raúl Fernández-Briseño, Javier Garibay, Sebastián Fernández-Alonso and Eduardo Rojas-Brandao.
