HK’s financial regulators focus attention on cyber security

In the June issue of Cyber Security Law & Practice, Gabriela Kennedy provides her analysis on the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Securities and Futures Commission’s (SFC) initiatives in countering cyber threats and their implications on financial institutions.

The author expects more guidelines and circulars to be issued by both regulators in the future. She concludes that for Hong Kong to maintain its position as a leading international financial centre, it is important that the city’s financial institutions have a robust cybersecurity system in place and to maintain accountability for it.
