Is Certification the Future of Privacy? Yes, No, Maybe?

Mayer Brown organized and hosted a meeting of the IAPP Brussels KnowledgeNet Chapter. With as title, “Is Certification the Future of Privacy? Yes, No, Maybe?”, the meeting discussed the interplay between cybersecurity and data privacy in order to highlight the actual relevance of the cybersecurity frameworks to the work of privacy professionals. The audience heard from ENISA, the European Cybersecurity Agency, on its work around privacy and certification, including on the early developments of the candidate scheme for cloud services. This was followed by a presentation on the process, constraints and benefits of ISO 27001 certification framework. The materials of the presentations are attached.
