Oliver Williams advises a range of financial institutions, including banks, insurers and private funds, and their senior managers on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious regulatory issues under UK and EU law. He has experience in domestic and cross-border transactions, and regulatory engagement with the FCA and the PRA. He regularly advises on issues relating to financial and non-financial misconduct, employment issues (including governance and SM&CR), solvency and capital requirements. He also advises on fund fundraising and marketing in the UK and EU, including matters relating to AIFMD, MiFID II and national private placement regimes.

Non-contentious regulatory advice
- Advised pension schemes, funds, insurers, payment services providers and others on the UK regulatory perimeter, covering regulated activities, financial promotions, investment recommendations, investment research and the consumer duty.
- Supported with fund formations, mergers, changes in control and terminations for UCITS and NURS OEICs (umbrella and single funds) and AUTs.
- Carried out fund reviews in respect of both regulated and private funds.
- Acted for private funds on the coordination and completion of various multijurisdictional AIF filings.
- Advised Perella Weinberg, a leading global independent advisory firm, on its agreement to acquire Gleacher Shacklock, a premier independent, London-headquartered advisory firm with a focus on, and long-standing presence in, the UK market.
