Lorenz Taets advises leading private equity firms and their portfolio companies, as well as public and private companies, insurance companies and investors across multiple industries, including energy (with a focus on renewable and transition energy), infrastructure and mining/critical minerals, as well as port and terminal infrastructure, on complex domestic and cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, minority investments, joint ventures, recapitalizations, insurance and reinsurance transactions, and other corporate matters. He also maintains an active pro bono practice. Before joining Mayer Brown, Lorenz worked in the Brussels office of another prominent international law firm.

- Profire Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: PFIE) on its $125 million all-cash sale to CECO Environmental Corp. (NASDAQ: CECO) through a two-step merger.
- Mitsubishi Corporation in its acquisition of a 30% interest in the US Copper World copper mine project owned by Hudbay Minerals Inc. (TSX, NYSE: HBM) for a total consideration of $600 million.
- NeoXam, a portfolio company of Eurazeo and a global leader in data management, data performance, data reporting, portfolio management and investment accounting software, in its acquisition of EZOPS, a leading provider of AI-enabled data control, workflow automation, reconciliation, and regulatory reporting solutions.
- CPPIB in a minority investment.
- One of the world’s largest heavy-duty transit bus and mobility solutions companies on the acquisition of an electric-vehicle battery division as part of a broader, negotiated settlement agreement. The transaction involved the carve-out purchase of EV battery assets from a major U.S./German manufacturer of lithium-ion battery cells and modules.
- A global pharmaceutical company, as U.S. counsel alongside Canadian lead counsel, in its take-private acquisition of a publicly listed biotechnology company by way of a plan of arrangement.
- A leading manufacturer of industrial and municipal wastewater treatment solutions in its reorganization, recapitalization and subsequent sale of a controlling interest in the company to a private equity firm.
