Jennifer Huang resolves complex cross-border disputes for US, Latin American, European, African, and Asian clients. She has wide-ranging litigation and arbitration experience, with a focus on international arbitration involving intellectual property (IP) rights. Jennifer acts as counsel in US trial and appellate litigations, as well as international commercial and investor-state arbitrations under the rules of the ICC, LCIA, ICDR, Swiss Arbitration Centre, CAM-CCBC, and UNCITRAL. Drawing on her prior experience at another prominent global law firm and at the World Intellectual Property Organization, Jennifer represents clients spanning sectors from entertainment to food and beverage, telecommunications, construction, commercial aviation, aerospace, energy, insurance, and finance.

As a member of Mayer Brown’s IP and International Arbitration practices, Jennifer excels in leading multidisciplinary and multi-office case teams to trial. Her trial experience includes first-chairing opening statements and direct- and cross-examinations of fact and expert witnesses. Jennifer also regularly advises on drafting dispute resolution provisions for complex international commercial contracts.

Jennifer is a frequent speaker at professional conferences and a published author in the field of music cognition. In her active pro bono practice, she has counseled Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts on various issues and successfully represented asylum seekers in both affirmative and defensive proceedings.


International Arbitration

  • Lead associate of case team representing a Swiss beverage company against a U.S. licensee in a trademark dispute (ICDR, seated in New York).
  • Lead associate of case team that defeated a US$ 637.7 million claim on all counts and was awarded 100% of its fees and costs, on behalf of a Brazilian company against a Brazilian and Indian-owned joint venture involving a Joint Operating Agreement for oil and gas development (ICC, seated in London).
  • Lead associate of case team that secured an award valued at over US$ 115 million on behalf of a Brazilian energy company and Singaporean shareholder against a Dutch entity in a dispute involving construction and Brazilian tax issues (ICC, seated in New York).
  • Lead associate of case team representing a U.S. public utility against a Spanish energy company in a Hearing on Jurisdiction (ICC, seated in Portland, Oregon). Obtained favorable settlement, avoiding further arbitration on merits and quantum relating to the construction of a natural gas power generating station.
  • Secured US$ 1.2 billion award (collected in full following subsequent enforcement proceedings) for a Japanese telecommunications company against an Indian conglomerate, arising out of the latter’s failure to comply with contractual obligations (LCIA, seated in London).
  • Secured US$ 670 million award plus interest for a startup in the satellite communications technology sector against the Indian space agency, arising out of repudiation of a long-term satellite contract (ICC, seated in New Delhi).
  • Won favorable jurisdiction/merits award for three Mauritian investors of the above startup, in parallel proceedings against the Republic of India under UNCITRAL Rules before the PCA in The Hague, regarding an investment valued in excess of US$ 1.4 billion.
  • Represented an Irish entity against a French aerospace company in a highly confidential dispute under Swiss law.
  • Advised Korean nuclear power company on IP licensing and arbitration issues in the context of a new project bid.
