London — Dominic (Dom) Griffiths has been appointed the next managing partner of Mayer Brown’s London office, effective January 1, 2022. Dominic succeeds Sally Davies who, having held the position since July 2017, will focus on her role as a member of Mayer Brown's eight-lawyer global Management Committee.

"Dom's appointment is great news for the London office," said Jon Van Gorp, global chair of Mayer Brown. "He is a talented leader, whose unique skills combine great knowledge of the firm, our clients and the London market. I am confident that he will build on Sally's work to ensure that we continue to thrive."

Dominic joined Mayer Brown as a partner in 2005 and served as co-leader of the firm's global Banking & Finance practice since 2014. He represents banks and financial institutions across a broad spectrum of domestic and international financing transactions and is widely recognized as a leading asset based lending and structured finance lawyer.

As the firm's graduate recruitment partner in London over many years, Dominic is active in leading the search for new trainees. He is a long-time advocate for diversity and inclusion, and originated Mayer Brown's adoption of a blind CV interviewing policy for trainee applicants. Passionate about community development and youth empowerment, Dominic currently serves as a trustee of The Unicorn Theatre and a director of the One Million Mentors program in the UK.

"It is a privilege to be entrusted to lead the London office," said Dominic. "The outstanding teamwork and the range of excellence amongst our lawyers and business services professionals is one of our most distinguishing qualities. Under Sally's excellent leadership the office has thrived and I look forward to building on her momentum and raising the profile of Mayer Brown to where we deserve to be in the London market."

The London office is an integral part of Mayer Brown's international network, and with more than 250 lawyers, it is the third largest office. Under Sally's leadership, the profitability of the London office increased and she enjoyed tremendous success in increasing collaboration between the firm's European offices, advancing diversity and inclusion programs and recruiting high profile lateral lawyers, including the recent addition of three financial services focused partners in one day.

"It has been a huge honor to serve as London managing partner," said Sally. "I am delighted to congratulate Dom on his appointment. He will be a great ambassador for the firm, and I wish him every success in his new role. I look forward to working closely with Dom through my role on the global Management Committee, which includes responsibility for the Middle East and Europe.”
