2027 US Summer Associate Program Applications

Mayer Brown is currently accepting first-year law student applications for our 2027 US Summer Associate Program.

To apply, please select the office of your choice and submit only one application for consideration. If you are interested in more than one office, please note that in your cover letter and the comments field of your application. We will not accept applications by email.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the summer program class is filled. We will contact you directly if you are selected for an interview with us. We appreciate your interest in a summer position at Mayer Brown.

We anticipate compensation for US summer associates in 2027 will be based on an annualized salary of $225,000 paid on a biweekly basis on Fridays.

You’ll be involved with actual client matters and pro bono work, providing you with invaluable real-world experience in legal work. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to observe or participate in closings, document drafting, client conferences and negotiation sessions. Working alongside our talented teams allows summer associates to experience our global culture, explore our practice areas, and work with a variety of lawyers. In addition, you have a chance to meet and get to know other summer associates in our summer program during programming, events, and our US Summer Associate Academy.

Our internship program gives you real insight into what a career in law looks like at a leading global firm

The AHEAD Internship Program provides law students with meaningful exposure to the day-to-day activities of practicing lawyers. Internship opportunities are available throughout the year, with positions opening based on business needs. We also offer a structured, one-month Vacation Internship Program, held in January and July during university breaks, for students seeking a short-term opportunity to experience life at the Firm.

Throughout the AHEAD Internship Program, interns work on projects involving real client matters, document drafting, and the translation of key materials, among other activities. They collaborate with lawyers across different practice areas and gain first-hand experience of the dynamics of a leading law firm.

The program is supported by a structured development framework, combining hands-on work with continuous guidance throughout the internship.

Sponsored by Bruno Cerqueira and Maria Rita (São Paulo) and Flávio Amaral and Barbara Leite (Rio de Janeiro), the AHEAD Internship Program includes:

Monthly Academic Development Sessions

Sessions focused on key legal topics, designed to complement academic learning and deepen practical understanding through discussions led by partners and associates.

Semiannual Performance Evaluations

A structured evaluation process that provides constructive feedback and supports ongoing development.

Biannual HR Follow-up Meetings

Regular check-ins with the HR team to monitor progress, address questions and support interns throughout their development.

Business English Classes

Optional language training aimed at strengthening communication skills in a legal and business context.

Mentorship

When summer associates and new lawyers join the firm, they are assigned mentors. All lawyers have access to a Global Mentor Roster that identifies enthusiastic mentors and their mentoring topics of interest. In addition, we offer global mentoring trainings and panels and have a quarterly Mentoring Spotlight series showcasing thoughtful interviews with mentors and mentees, who share their experience and guidance.

Scholars Program

Mayer Brown offers a number of individual scholarships to qualified law students who join our summer associate program in one of our US offices. This scholarship was created to acknowledge and reward law students with strong academic records who share our commitment to building community and promoting justice.
