You’ll be involved with actual client matters and pro bono work, providing you with invaluable real-world experience in legal work. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to observe or participate in closings, document drafting, client conferences and negotiation sessions. Working alongside our talented teams allows summer associates to experience our global culture, explore our practice areas, and work with a variety of lawyers. In addition, you have a chance to meet and get to know other summer associates in our summer program during programming, events, and our US Summer Associate Academy.

Mentorship

When summer associates and new lawyers join the firm, they are assigned mentors. All lawyers have access to a Global Mentor Roster that identifies enthusiastic mentors and their mentoring topics of interest. In addition, we offer global mentoring trainings and panels and have a quarterly Mentoring Spotlight series showcasing thoughtful interviews with mentors and mentees, who share their experience and guidance.

Scholars Program

Mayer Brown offers a number of individual scholarships to qualified law students who join our summer associate program in one of our US offices. This scholarship was created to acknowledge and reward law students with strong academic records who share our commitment to building community and promoting justice. Details on how to apply are provided to law students when they apply to our summer associate program and receive a callback interview invitation with us.

Exposure

Working here will give you a balance between local and international work. All summer associates are given challenging work, high levels of responsibility, substantial case management, and client contact from an early stage. As a truly international law firm, we will equip you with the skills to understand the international business world. Our lawyers will guide and support you every step of the way.
