Impersonation of Masahisa Ikeda, Managing Partner of Mayer Brown Tokyo We have been made aware that one or more unidentified individuals have been using, without authorisation, the name, title and photograph of Masahisa Ikeda, Managing Partner of our Tokyo office. They have used these details to contact members of the public, including through Gmail and other free email accounts. These communications have claimed to relate to international funds transfers and have asked for payment of fees, charges or other purported expenses. Neither Mayer Brown nor Mr Ikeda has any connection whatsoever with these communications or with the individuals behind them. Mayer Brown does not ask for payments for purported transfer, release, processing or similar expenses through unsolicited emails or messaging applications. Our lawyers do not use personal or free web-based email accounts (such as Gmail) for client matters. If you think you may have been the victim of fraud, please contact your local police straight away. Fictitious websites, social media pages and messaging accounts We (Mayer Brown | 美博律师行) have been made aware of some fictitious websites (including https://kjcq8.com/ and https://wkd51.com/) and social media platforms, including Facebook (“Suspicious Pages”). These use the English name (or part of it) and the trademark of our Firm and claim to offer free consultation and legal services in relation to fraudulent acts. The Suspicious Pages have mentioned the addresses of our Hong Kong and Singapore offices. Fictitious business cards bearing our Firm’s English name and “美亚博律师事务所”, with our Hong Kong office address, have also been given to people who appear to be victims of fraud. We have also been told that individuals are pretending to be various lawyers of our Firm and contacting victims via WhatsApp, claiming to provide services in relation to internet fraud cases. Their WhatsApp profiles show a picture of our lawyers, our Firm’s name (美博 and/or Mayer Brown) and our office address. Our Firm’s official website is www.mayerbrown.com. Our official Facebook page shows our name, Mayer Brown, in full with our official logo and can be accessed at www.facebook.com/mayerbrown. We have no connection whatsoever with the Suspicious Pages, the fictitious business cards, or anyone pretending to be one of our lawyers, including anyone using the name or identity of Masahisa Ikeda.
