The US capital markets remain an attractive source of capital for established and emerging financial services and fintech companies. While the financial services sector accounted for only 6.1% of traditional IPOs in 2020, as is the popular trend, financial services and fintech companies have been able to access the public markets through merging with SPACs. In addition, fintech companies in particular have been able to raise substantial amounts of capital in mega-round private financings. During this session with the Association of Corporate Council (ACC), panelists discuss the following topics:
- A recap of financial services and fintech sector market conditions
- Pre-IPO financings for fintech companies
- Special legal and regulatory considerations in connection with these financings
- The state of the IPO market
- IPO developments and direct listings
- SPAC transactions in the fintech sector
- Follow-on offerings (PIPE transactions, public follow-on offerings, and other transactions)
