Guido Vinci is a partner in the Tax practice of Tauil & Chequer Advogados in the Rio de Janeiro office. Guido Vinci has extensive experience in tax planning, tax consulting and tax litigation, in particular in connection with M&A transactions, foreign investment, VAT (ICMS) issues and capital markets. His clients include Brazilian and international companies from a variety of industry sectors, such as consumer goods, industrial goods and services, energy (oil and gas), pharmaceutical, hospitality and leisure (hotel and resorts), infrastructure, media and entertainment, financial and banking services, technology (telecommunications) and retail, real estate and life sciences.
Guido started his career in 1989 as a member of KPMG’s tax department and left KPMG as a senior tax manager until 1996. In the same year, Guido joined a prominent Brazilian law firm as a founding partner of the tax department and stayed until 2006. In 2007, he joined another prominent Brazilian law firm as a partner. He has been a partner at Tauil & Chequer Advogados since 2015.

- Provided tax advice in connection with the whole implementation of the Brazil-Bolivia gas pipeline;
- Provided legal and tax advice for the merger between Sony Music and BMG;
- Provided tax advice to KBR (Halliburton) in connection with structuring and negotiating FPSO's Barracuda and Caratinga, in negotiations with Petrobras;
- Provided advice in the corporate restructuring of several companies from the electricity industry, including Coelce, AES Sul and Elektro;
- Advised British Gas during the privatization of Comgas and the subsequent corporate restructuring of this company;
- Advised Terna Participações, the Brazilian subsidiary of Italian operator of electricity transmission networks Terna, in connection with the acquisition of a transmission company and the restructuring of its debts;
- Advised Mexican pharmaceuticals distribution group Casa Saba in the US$115 million acquisition of drugstore chains Drogasmil and Farmalife, including more than 100 stores;
- Advised Italian infrastructure group Atlantia and its Brazilian subsidiary Autostrade Concessões e Participações Brasil in contractual, corporate and tax issues relating to the creation of a US$3.3 billion joint venture with Grupo Bertin. This was one of the largest transactions ever in the Brazilian infrastructure sector. The joint venture will be the largest Brazilian company specializing in highway concessions and will manage a portfolio of more than 1,500 km concentrated in the States of São Paulo and Minas Gerais, with approximate annual revenues of R$1 billion;
- Provided advice in relation to the spin-off of the pharmaceutical operations of Schering Plough (currently MSD) from Mantecorp;
- Advised TIM in the acquisition of Intelig;
- Advised TIM in the acquisition of AES Atimus;
- Provided advice in the sale by TIM of towers to American Towers;
- Provided advice in connection TIM’s bid to acquire GVT;
- Managed the corporate restructuring of Brasil Telecom;
- Managed the corporate restructurings of the TIM Group in Brazil from 1997 onwards;
- Counsel to Cognita Group (England) in the acquisition of two primary/secondary schools, one in São Paulo (Play Pen School) and another one in Niterói, RJ (Gat Lussac School);
- Sponsoring of tax actions and counsel for the Univercidade group (Rio de Janeiro);
- Tax and acquisition counsel to Laureate group (the biggest educational group in The United States) in various tertiary schools all over Brazil;
- Tax counseling for the Devry group (USA) in tax questions.
