Overview
Britteny Leyva is an associate in Mayer Brown's Los Angeles office and a member of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Cybersecurity & Data Privacy practice groups. Britteny advises US and multinational companies on complex global privacy and data security issues, including compliance with global privacy and security frameworks, cyber incident response, crisis management, and civil litigation.
Britteny’s practice includes counseling on the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA); the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA); the forthcoming California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), and Colorado Privacy Act (CPA); and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), among other privacy and security frameworks. Her recent work includes assisting a healthcare-related entity with navigating multiple Attorney General inquiries and numerous class actions post-cyber incident, defending a high-profile technology client in a high-stakes dispute, and providing privacy counseling to clients in various industries.
Britteny is a member of both the Latino and LGBTQIA Affinity Groups in the Los Angeles Office. Prior to joining the firm, Britteny interned at a major e-commerce company, and was a law clerk for congresspersons in the House of Representatives.
