Overview
Jarrett Kalish is counsel in Mayer Brown’s New York City office and a member of the State & Local tax group.
Directly prior to joining Mayer Brown, Jarrett served as an Administrative Law Judge on the NYC Tax Appeals Tribunal. Jarrett began his career as tax counsel for the NYC Department of Finance. During his time with the Department, Jarrett was the City’s lead representative in numerous cases before the Conciliation Bureau. He also regularly provided legal advice to the Department’s Audit Division, collaborated with various stakeholders within the Department on policy issues and assisted senior counsel as a member of a small team that drafted the City’s 2015 corporate tax reform legislation. In addition, Jarrett’s prior experience includes working for a big 4 accounting firm and international law firms, where he focused on corporate law and federal tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, internal reorganizations and other transactional matters.
