London — Mayer Brown has expanded its global corporate finance and restructuring capabilities with the addition of Trevor Borthwick as a partner in the Banking & Finance practice in London. Trevor was previously a partner and head of the global corporate lending group at Allen & Overy.

"We have sustained our reputation as a global leader on lending transactions by offering clients experienced teams that are accustomed to advising on deals combining scale, complexity or both," said Dominic Griffiths, a partner and co-head of the global Banking & Finance practice at Mayer Brown. "Trevor is an outstanding lawyer whose arrival supports our ambition to build on that reputation. His practice also provides important synergies with other global teams, such as Restructuring and Real Estate. We look forward to welcoming Trevor to the firm."

Trevor has extensive experience advising on all forms of bank lending, particularly large and complex financing arrangements for institutional lenders and borrowers. The other significant aspect of Trevor’s practice is his work representing banks and borrowers in corporate debt special situations and restructurings across various sectors.

Michael Fiddy, a partner and co-head of the global Restructuring practice, said: “Trevor’s appointment represents another significant step in our strategy to expand the global Restructuring practice in key jurisdictions to keep up with client demand. He has a wealth of experience in all aspects of the corporate lending lifecycle, particularly restructuring, and his reputation in the market speaks for itself. I am confident that Trevor will make a valuable contribution to the growth and momentum of the Restructuring practice.”

Sally Davies, Mayer Brown’s senior partner in London said, “I am delighted to welcome Trevor to Mayer Brown. The scope of his practice precisely fits our desire to grow, integrate and deepen our finance and restructuring offerings globally. His experience and credibility will be a great asset to our clients in these turbulent times.”

Trevor Borthwick added: “I am very excited to be joining an international firm with leading teams in all the key geographies for my practice. Mayer Brown’s momentum and investment in corporate lending and restructuring make them a compelling proposition.”
