Banking & Finance partner Angelia Chia (Singapore) is quoted in Asia Business Law Journal's article discussing how companies are reacting to supply chain disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Angelia says some companies have been able to replicate and disperse operations across countries using new technologies like digitalisation and tele-working systems to co-ordinate and manage production from a distance. "This makes the supply chain shorter, less fragmented, and may utilise robotics-driven automation to substitute labour with technology.”
She adds that some jurisdictions have modernised their supply chain, citing Singapore’s recent memorandum of understanding with China customs for co-operation in a single-window interconnection consortium blockchain.
