Mayer Brown partner Martha McGarry named a 2022 “Notable Woman in Law” by Crain's New York Business

Mayer Brown announced that partner Martha McGarry was named to Crain's New York Business’ 2022 list of "Notable Women in Law." The list recognizes leading women lawyers in the New York metropolitan area for their outstanding professional achievements, pro bono work and involvement with industry and community organizations.

Ms. McGarry, a co-leader of Mayer Brown’s US M&A practice, is an internationally recognized corporate and securities lawyer with extensive experience advising public companies. Over her illustrious career, she has led numerous transformational transactions for high-profile corporations, including Coca-Cola in its $13 billion purchase of Coca-Cola Enterprises; General Motors in its $2.5 billion acquisition of Perot’s Electronic Data Systems Corp.; and American Express in the $1.1 billion sale of American Express Bank to Standard Chartered. She was the first woman to make partner in the M&A practice at her previous firm.

Outside the firm, Ms. McGarry is committed to supporting the success and growth of women in business and law. Notably, she co-founded and served on the board of W.O.M.E.N. in America, a professional development and mentoring organization for promising young female leaders in business. She also sits on the board of directors of a global healthcare company with a mission to deliver impactful medicines and solutions for women’s health.

Throughout her career, Ms. McGarry has been recognized as an industry leader by numerous rankings and publications, including Law360’s Top Female Deal Makers, Chambers USA’s first-ever Women in Law Awards as Corporate/M&A Lawyer of the Year, New York Law Journal’s Lifetime Achievement Award and Am Law Daily’s Dealmaker of the Week.
