London — Mayer Brown has been named as one of the top 50 most innovative law firms in this year’s FT Innovative Lawyers Report: Europe following its commendation in two categories.

Mayer Brown was commended in the Technology category for its contract processing platform, led by lawyers in the Corporate & Securities practice in Paris in collaboration with the firm’s IT department. The platform uses a digital process to collect e-signatures and draft legal contracts required for an Initial Public Offering.

The firm was also commended in the Managing Complexity & Scale category for a pro bono project led by Corporate & Securities partner Colin Scagell and Global Head of Derivatives & Structured Products Ed Parker. Mayer Brown advised risk transfer start-up, Global Parametrics, on the formation of the Natural Disaster Fund. The fund supports microfinance institutions in Africa and Asia with infusions of liquidity for insurance services. The firm assisted in creating an over-the-counter weather and catastrophe derivative.

The FT Innovative Lawyers Report, one of the top legal rankings in Europe, ranks lawyers on their innovation in four areas— legal expertise, business of law, collaboration and access to justice. More than 800 submissions and nominations were received from law firms, in-house legal teams and other legal services providers for 2018.
