Mayer Brown partners named top women in IP by Managing Intellectual Property

30 April 2018

Mayer Brown announced today that three Intellectual Property partners – Gabriela Kennedy (Hong Kong), Lisa Ferri and Colleen Tracy James (both New York) – have been recognized in Managing Intellectual Property’s 2018 “IP Stars - Top 250 Women in IP,” a list of leading women intellectual property lawyers globally.

Appearing on the “Top 250 Women in IP” list for the second consecutive year, Ms. Kennedy heads the Intellectual Property team in Asia and is co-leader of Mayer Brown’s global Intellectual Property practice. Her practice spans the full spectrum of intellectual property work, from litigation to licensing, strategic advice and portfolio management. She also advises extensively on technology and data protection issues in Hong Kong and throughout Asia, particularly in relation to business processing outsourcing, the cross-border transfer of data, data compliance and data breaches.

Ms. Ferri, who has been named to the list each year since its inception in 2013, co-leads the firm’s global Intellectual Property practice. She focuses on patent and other complex intellectual property litigation, particularly in the life sciences industry. Ms. Ferri’s experience spans a broad range of therapeutic areas and technologies, and she serves as lead counsel for high-profile companies in federal trial and appellate courts, the US Patent and Trademark Office and the International Trade Commission. She also is an adjunct professor of law at Fordham University School of Law in New York, where she teaches patent litigation.

Ms. James, named to the list for the third consecutive year, focuses her practice on the litigation of patent and other complex intellectual property matters, with particular emphasis in life sciences disputes. Representing high-profile companies in federal courts across the country, Ms. James has extensive experience and has served as lead counsel in litigating Abbreviated New Drug Application cases brought under the Hatch-Waxman Act.
