Mayer Brown associate Brantley Webb named a pro bono “Rising Star” by National Immigrant Justice Center

12 June 2015

Mayer Brown announced today that Litigation & Dispute Resolution associate Brantley Webb (Washington DC) is one of 12 attorneys named a 2015 “Rising Star” by the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) as part of its 16th annual Human Rights Awards. Rising Stars are associates or junior-level attorneys who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to ensuring access to justice for immigrants by devoting substantial time to NIJC pro bono work, serving a significant number of NIJC clients, and/or representing clients with particularly complex cases.

Ms. Webb worked with the NIJC on a complex immigration case in which her client was wrongfully deported and, after re-entering the country, arrested and imprisoned. Shortly after she drafted and filed the opening brief in the US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, the parties entered into settlement negotiations through which Ms. Webb helped secure complete relief for her client.

“My work with NIJC attorneys on this case was some of the most thorough and challenging of my career, and it has brought about some of the most satisfying results. Being able to stand with our client and bring him tangible relief at one of the toughest moments in his life has been a unique reward for me,” said Ms. Webb.

The NIJC, a Heartland Alliance Program, is dedicated to ensuring human rights protections and access to justice for all immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. The organization provides direct legal services to and advocates for these populations through policy reform, impact litigation and public education.
