Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw has received the 2007 Pro Bono Award from the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, which honors excellence in and dedication to the public service field.

The firm was recognized for its role in establishing the federal court Pro Se Settlement Assistance Program, which has greatly facilitated the process of pro se clients pursuing their claims. Under the leadership of attorneys Stuart Litwin and Marc Kadish, the federal court has been able to expedite and resolve numerous cases that were once lost on the court's docket. The program has also provided the Chicago legal community with an abundance of pro bono opportunities.

According to Clyde E. Murphy, Executive Director of the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, "The Pro Se Settlement Assistance Program has been a massive success, with nearly 100 lawyers participating to date. In the first quarter of this year alone, five cases were resolved that had languished in the courts for years. The award also recognizes Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw's substantial and long-term support for the Chicago Lawyers' Committee."

The award was accepted by Marc Kadish at the 38th Annual Meeting of the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights on July 11, 2007.
