13 November 2009 – Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, today announced that Fred W. Reinke has joined the Litigation practice as a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. He joins from Dewey & LeBoeuf, where much of his work concentrated on complex international commercial and class action litigation, particularly on behalf of major European insurance/reinsurance companies and financial institutions. At Mayer Brown, he will focus his practice primarily on both insurance/reinsurance and international litigation matters.

Mr. Reinke has extensive experience counseling U.S. and European insurance/reinsurance companies and financial institutions on commercial litigation and arbitration disputes, including the defense of class action lawsuits. In addition, he has substantial appellate experience and recently argued appeals in the 2nd and 9th Circuit Courts of Appeal. He also has conducted numerous corporate internal investigations for U.S. and European companies and has guided directors of public and private companies on corporate governance matters.

“Mayer Brown remains committed to expanding and strengthening the firm’s representation of clients in the insurance and reinsurance industry,” said Cliff Schoenberg, co-head of the firm’s U.S. Insurance & Reinsurance group. “Fred’s reputation and proven track record, combined with his deep industry relationships, both in the U.S. and Europe, make him an outstanding addition to our global insurance and reinsurance team. His arrival enhances the ability of Mayer Brown’s already strong international insurance and reinsurance practice to serve our clients efficiently and seamlessly on a cross-border basis.”

In commenting on his reasons for joining Mayer Brown, Mr. Reinke said, “ Mayer Brown’s premier international practice, its strong institutional client relationships and the breadth of its practice in France, Germany and the U.K. provide a tailor-made opportunity given my background and experience. I look forward to working with my new colleagues and drawing upon Mayer Brown’s impressive collection of attorneys throughout the world to deliver comprehensive inter-disciplinary counsel to the Firm’s current and future clients.”

Mr. Reinke received his J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and his B.A. from St. Olaf College. Mr. Reinke was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Hamburg and also held a Robert Bosch Fellowship in Germany.
