Mayer Brown Partners with Bank of America to Help Veterans with Disability Claims

Mayer Brown Article

Mayer Brown lawyers partnered with attorneys from Bank of America to participate in the Veterans Assistance Project of the City Bar Justice Center.   The Veterans Assistance Project was launched in 2008 by the City Bar Justice Center in collaboration with Mayer Brown and nine prominent New York law firms in order to help meet the legal needs of the growing number of veterans in New York City.  Through the Project, which involves monthly clinics, lawyers provide pro bono legal services to veterans in connection with the filing of claims for disability benefits with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Nineteen attorneys from Mayer Brown and Bank of America have participated in the partnership by gaining accreditation from the Veterans Administration, attending a training session, interviewing clients at the legal clinic held on October 19, 2011, and providing legal assistance with ongoing cases from that clinic.  The initiative is being led by New York Corporate partner John Berkery.
