Hong Kong Competition - The Fear of Big Business

The article first appeared in International Financial Law Review, June 2008 - After years of vigorous debate on the topic, Hong Kong looks set to introduce a general competition law in the coming year. On May 6 2008, Hong Kong's Commerce and Economic Development Bureau released a Consultation Paper on a proposed Competition Ordinance, and confirmed the government's stated intention to introduce a law during the 2008/09 legislative session.
