Prominent Korean lawyer Min Ho Lee joins Mayer Brown as partner in DC Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice

15 January 2013

Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced that Min Ho Lee has joined the firm in Washington, DC as a partner in the Litigation & Dispute practice, focusing on international arbitration and antitrust law. Previously, Mr. Lee was a partner at the Korean law firm Lee & Ko and earlier was with Seyfarth Shaw in Los Angeles.

“Min Ho has extensive on-the-ground experience in both the US and Korean legal systems and is a trusted advisor to many of Korea’s largest and most successful corporations,” said Evan Tager, a co-leader of Mayer Brown’s global Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. “Those strengths will be of great value to Korean clients with interests abroad and to US, European and Asian clients with interests in Korea.”

At Lee & Ko, Mr. Lee represented clients in high-profile international arbitrations involving banking and financial services,  joint ventures, intellectual property, trade secrets, stock purchase agreements and distributor agreements before leading arbitral institutions including the International Chamber of Commerce, the American Arbitration Association and the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board. He also managed overseas litigation on behalf of many leading Korean corporations, including Hyundai Corporation, LG Electronics, Daewoo Electronics, Korea National Oil Corporation, Hyundai Motor Group, Korean Air and LG Chemicals. In addition, he advised multinational corporations on a wide variety of labor and employment issues in Korea, assisted Korean companies in selecting US counsel for litigation and transactional matters and counseled Korean  corporations through the US discovery process.

“Mayer Brown’s global platform and its strong litigation capabilities, particularly in international arbitration and antitrust, made it the perfect fit for me,” Mr. Lee said. “I look forward to working with my new partners to help Korean corporations address their US trade and antitrust issues and to assist the firm’s non-Korean clients with legal matters there.”

Mr. Lee received a BA degree from the University of Manchester, England,  and a JD degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Arthur S. Weissbrodt of the United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of California.
