Mayer Brown partner Perry Hicks appointed vice-chair of ABA’s Investment Securities Subcommittee

Perry Hicks, a partner in the Charlotte office of Mayer Brown, has been appointed as vice-chair of the Business Law Section’s subcommittee on investment securities for the American Bar Association (ABA). The Subcommittee concentrates on portions of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) that focus on investment securities and related investment property transactions, including Article 8 and portions of Article 9.
The Subcommittee is actively engaged in issues faced by scholars and practitioners in this area of the law. The Subcommittee participated in the drafting of the major revisions to Article 8 of the UCC in 1994. The Subcommittee was part of a task force that participated in the United States Treasury’s formulation of the revised federal book-entry regulations effective since January 1997. The Subcommittee has also worked with the drafting committee for revised Article 9 to improve interrelationships between UCC Articles 8 and 9.
At Mayer Brown, Mr. Hicks is a partner in the Banking & Finance practice. He represents financial institutions and borrowers in secured transactions involving fund of funds and other private investment companies, as well as midstream energy and agricultural commodity companies. Additionally, he has represented lenders and debtors in several high profile bankruptcy-related secured financings.
