Trent is a senior associate in the Intellectual Property practice of the Houston office. He is a registered patent attorney and the emphasis of his practice is on patent litigation. He has experience litigating in federal district courts across the country, as well as before the US International Trade Commission in §337 investigations. His practice covers all facets of patent litigation, including pre-filing investigation of infringement and validity issues, pleading and motion practice, fact and expert discovery, depositions, the claim construction process, summary judgment, and presenting witnesses and argument at hearings. Trent’s experience encompasses matters involving a broad range of technologies, including telecommunications, oilfield equipment and services, industrial processes, semiconductors, and consumer electronics.
Trent is also experienced in the intellectual property aspects of transactional matters, from due diligence through document drafting and negotiation, as well as patent opinion work. He has also counseled clients on a variety of trademark, copyright, and trade secret issues.
Prior to joining Mayer Brown in 2008, Trent practiced as a commercial litigator with a respected Texas law firm.
