Admitted to the Paris Bar and England and Wales, Sabina Comis is a tax partner and international co-leader of the Private Investment Funds Group.
She has wide–ranging tax experience with a strong emphasis on complex tax structuring of international transactions, restructurings and/or refinancings involving multi-sponsors leverage buy-outs (for clients such as Cinven Ltd, The Carlyle Group, Molex, Zodiac, Altice, Lyondell, Numéricable, etc.).
Sabina is also a recognized expert on the creation and structuring of private investment funds (private equity or real estate vehicles, joint ventures, etc.). Her tax experience coupled with her funds’ regulatory know-how allows Sabina to advise on tailor-made, innovative structures for investments in France and throughout Europe, such as the setting up of: (i) the first dedicated provider of mezzanine and preferred equity financing for private equity portfolios; (ii) the first French regulated and leveraged investment vehicle for the purchase of discounted debt; and (iii) the first French type endowment fund. Her clients include Raise Investissement, HSBC France, Partech International, Ciclad Gestion, Rothschild & Cie, 17 Capital, LBO France, La Maison/ Banque Leonardo, etc.
Sabina joined Mayer Brown in 2007 after ten years of practice with two "UK Magic Circle" firms (having trained and worked in their London and NY tax teams for four years and in their Paris tax team for more than five years).
In addition to her native Italian, Sabina is fluent in French and English.
