Professional Liability, Litigation & Dispute Resolution

Overview

Rosaria Owen is an experienced litigator and corporate adviser whose present role with Mayer Brown involves advising on professional responsibility matters — including legal ethics, business intake and engagements — with a focus on legal conflicts issues in Mayer Brown’s offices worldwide.

As a litigator, Rosaria represented major firm clients in the course of complex commercial cases and arbitrations, including securities litigation and insurance coverage disputes. She was involved in Mayer Brown’s nationwide defense of a major American chemical company engaged in silicone breast implant litigation, during which she served as regional counsel, with supervisory responsibility for local counsel in actions throughout the Midwest. Rosaria also helped to represent the client in various securities-related matters brought by shareholders in response to its silicone-implant litigation.

In addition, Rosaria was part of the Mayer Brown defense team representing a leading domestic manufacturer in insurance coverage matters related to that manufacturer’s asbestos-related liabilities. She advised the client in the course of complex arbitrations and a major declaratory judgment action conducted in the State of New York.

Rosaria joined Mayer Brown in 1991. Previously (1985–1989), she worked with the Northern Trust Company in Chicago. She is fluent in Italian.
