Rory Schneider is a Supreme Court & Appellate associate in Mayer Brown’s New York office. Rory has considerable experience in both the trial and appellate stages of litigation. Rory’s work focuses to a large extent on product liability cases: he has authored appellate briefs filed in the Eleventh Circuit and Florida state appellate courts, and he has worked on several jury trials, drafting motions in limine, motions for directed verdict, and motions for a new trial. Rory has also done significant work on financial matters, particularly those relating to securities: he has assisted with the preparation of appellate briefs and drafted dispositive motions addressing complex legal issues surrounding the treatment of residential mortgage-backed securities on behalf of issuers, underwriters, and trustees. Rory devotes a substantial amount of time to pro bono matters as well; his pro bono work has included drafting motions and amicus briefs in pro bono cases addressing the rights of same-sex couples. Rory is also a contributor to Mayer Brown’s punitive damages blog, Guideposts.

Prior to joining Mayer Brown in 2014, Rory served as a law clerk to Judge Marjorie O. Rendell of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Rory also spent a year as a litigation associate at another international law firm, during which time he briefed and argued a criminal appeal in the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division, First Department. Rory received his JD summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was a comments editor on the Law Review.
