Peter Chapman is an associate in the Insurance & Reinsurance practice of the London office. He joined Mayer Brown as a trainee in 2012.
Pete has advised in relation to various contentious and non-contentious insurance matters. He is experienced in advising insurers in relation to policy coverage issues and assisting insurers and policyholders in relation to the defence of third party claims in both the English Courts and via arbitration.
Specific areas of experience include:
Professional Indemnity: advising insurers and insureds on a wide range of coverage issues, including defending claims by third parties against professionals including insurance brokers, solicitors, pensions professionals/actuaries, engineering professionals and valuers.
Financial Institutions: advising insurers on the coverage aspects of claims brought against institutions, notably in connection with claims arising from tax avoidance schemes and pensions misselling.
Directors' & Officers' Liability: advising insurers and insureds in connection with D&O policy coverage issues. He has also acted as monitoring counsel in the defence of third party claims.
Reinsurance: advising reinsurers on complex, high-value reinsurance claims arising from multi-jurisdictional coverage disputes.
