Paul has represented numerous Fortune 500 clients in outsourcing transactions.

Chambers Global 2015 notes that Paul "earns plaudits from interviewees for being 'helpful in explaining concepts to clients - he takes complex material and makes it understandable.'"  Chambers USA 2012 describes Paul as "insightful and a problem solver with great attention to detail." The 2009 edition of Chambers USA notes that "he has a strong technical background and 'offers intellectual horsepower and pragmatic solutions' in outsourcing deals." Additionally, Best Lawyers named Paul as the "Chicago Information Technology Law Lawyer of the Year" for 2013 and 2014.

In previous years, Chambers wrote, "'There are so many good things you can say about Paul Roy,' he is far-sighted and excellent on matters that require a lot of brainpower, such as complex high-value transactions or repairing a deal that has gone bad.”, and his "'lack of arrogance — despite his intellect' — impresses clients who retain him to handle matters relating to IT, telecommunications and business process outsourcing."
