Admitted to the Paris Bar, Matthieu de Varax is a partner in the Banking & Finance practice of the Paris office.
He concentrates on international and domestic asset and project finance transactions of all types and has acted for lenders, borrowers, contractors, manufacturers and state agencies on transactions involving a great variety of jurisdictions across all continents.
Matthieu has vast experience of aviation-related matters and assists airlines, lessors, manufacturers and financial institutions in the negotiation and documentation of leasing and financing arrangements for commercial aircraft, business jets, aircraft engines and parts, flight simulators and airport facilities.
A member of the Firm's Africa group, Matthieu has acted on financing transactions and projects in most of the francophone jurisdictions in Africa spanning a great variety of sectors including metals and mining, infrastructure and transportation.
Matthieu also regularly represents clients in public-private partnerships with a particular focus on the defense and security sectors. He assisted the successful bidder on the first public-private partnership contract ever awarded by the French ministry of defense (project known as Helidax) and has since acted on some of the largest projects in these sectors in France.
In addition to his native French, Matthieu is fluent in English.
