Marjorie Margolies joined Mayer Brown in 1988 and currently focuses on taxation matters. She has represented corporate clients in a number of significant tax controversies involving the Internal Revenue Service and focusing on tax refunds, tax audits and interest refunds. She also concentrates on negotiating and resolving disputes, and documenting agreements at the Exam, Appeals or litigation levels through closing agreements and stipulations of settlement.
As part of her sophisticated tax counseling, Margie has extensive experience in complex issues arising from amended returns, refund claims, assessments and associated computational matters. Among several large matters that she has resolved through negotiating settlement or closing agreements with the IRS are audits involving complex computational issues. She is particularly knowledgeable about matters involving payment processing and assessment in IRS Service Centers, as well as the general payment system of the IRS and related accounting activities for payments and refunds.
Margie's foreign language capabilities include fluency in French and limited knowledge of Spanish and Hebrew.
